Hello Bloggers
I remember back in elementary school being excited when the teacher told us that we will be going to the computer lab We had different learning activities that were for Math, English and Reading. My favorite program was called Gumby (if I remember correctly). I have had technology apart of my life since I was a little girl and I never found it to be distracting to me. In all honesty I feel that it has help my education to improve. Being that technology plays a very big role in our everyday lives I find it to be very beneficial. It has provided us with instant access to information by a simple google search or an online textbook at a very inexpensive price.. However I can say that when it comes to using e-books I do find some flaws with it just as Jeff Ayers stated in the article "E-Books a Cheaper Option, but Students Remain Skeptical" written by Becky Hayes. Ayers says that it is sometimes hard to integrate them into the classrooms. I feel that when it comes to e-books I found it hard to mark notes, highlight or mark my place of remembrance. As far as the MOOCS I feel that they are a great alternative to actually attending classes however I do eel that it takes out that face to face connection between teacher and student, the personal connection is gone. I also had previous experience with online courses and it was great however my teacher lived in Washington and I never actually got to put a face with the name because it was an online course; not to mention I took all of her Spanish courses that were required for my degree with the same person. I was in this class for a year and half and never knew what this woman looked like. Technology has been very beneficial to my educational success but I do feel that it doesn't need to be the only means of learning. Moderation is key to me.
