My name is Ashney Lawson and I am a Communications Major at the University of Louisville. I am in my Junior year, I plan to graduate in May of 2017. I decided to study communications because I plan to pursue a career as a Public Relations Specialist, Public relations refers to the practice of creating, promoting or maintaining goodwill and favorable image among the public towards and institution, public body etc. Definition provided by (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/public+relations). The core of this career stimulates from communication. This my first blog so I am very excited about it and will be focusing on Communication Technology. To speak on communication tech from my point of view I feel that it has been very important in numerous areas of our society today. It has allowed us open communication throughout the entire world and even with our own homes. I do find myself purchasing the latest Samsung brand Note Phones once a new one is released. I really enjoy various features that the phone has like Samsung pay, and the fingerprint recognition lock.
Since we will be talking about radio in our class I feel that it has been very crucial to the development of Communication Technology with the main goal of reaching the masses.I use the radio to keep up with the latest music, as well as trending topics with celebrities or local stories that are going on here in Kentucky. I feel that the radio will never fully go away being that is the most owned in households today. It may tend to grow like SiriusXm, and Pandora on a larger scale but never go away completely, however speaking on the terms of AM and FM radio I do feel that it will continue to grow. In a recent report done by Nielsen, "that 63% of music fans say that traditional radio is their chief means of discovering new music." (Information provided by http://thenextweb.com/insider/2013/11/27/the-future-of-radio/). With this percentage I feel that radio has safe grounds and can only continue to grow in its own development.
